Happy Thanksgiving, Friends!

One of my favorites from Bizarro

The things we deal with when we're with family for a holiday . . .

For some reason, Thanksgiving seems to highlight the oddness of our relatives. Maybe it's because we're expected to travel long distances, eat until we're sick, and then watch other people fall asleep while they watch football and we do the dishes because we don't happen to watch football. We also are expected to put up with Uncle Racist's remarks because "that's just the way he is," or Aunt Nosy's pushy questions about when, exactly, we are going to produce children—or stop having so many.

I'm thankful that in recent years, I've spent it with my in-laws—who are infinitely entertaining in a good way—and the past couple years have been spent at home with our adult kids and any of their friends who feel like joining us.

I'll be posting next week for real, so make sure you stop back to say hello. In the meantime, happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends, and do yourself a favor by not shopping on Friday. Fighting strangers to save a buck negates all that thankfulness from the day before, you know. And it doesn't burn nearly as many calories as you'd think.
